Many older adults and their caregivers may be fearful of mental illness when some other physical illness may be the cause of their behaviour, memory or mood changes. Illnesses that decrease the supply of blood to the brain, stroke effects, hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia and drug interactions are some conditions that can mimic symptoms of mental illness. |
